Adhitam AI ("the app") is a personal UPSC Civil Services exam-preparation study companion. This policy explains what data the app collects, why, where it's stored, and what choices you have. We've kept the app local-first by design — most of what it tracks about your study habits never leaves your device unless you explicitly turn on a feature that needs a server.
The following is stored in your device's local storage and is never transmitted anywhere unless you use one of the optional online features described in Section 2:
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Study profile (name, target exam year, preparation level, preferences) | Personalizing your study plan and dashboard |
| Activity log (sessions, screen views, content you opened, time spent) | Streaks, mastery scoring, and recommendations |
| Quiz results and attempt history | Accuracy tracking, weak-topic detection, revision scheduling |
| Notes, answer-writing submissions, essay drafts | So you can review your own past work |
| Chat history with the in-app mentor | So the mentor conversation persists between visits |
| Mood/wellbeing check-ins, timetable, milestones, test-series progress | Study planning and burnout signals |
| Interview (DAF) preparation entries you type in | Interview-prep practice only |
This data lives in your device's app storage. Uninstalling the app deletes it. We (the developer) have no access to it unless you use the optional backup/export feature and choose to share that file yourself.
These features require an internet connection and, in most cases, signing in. If you never sign in or never use these features, none of this applies to you.
| Feature | What's sent | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Account sign-in (Google or email code) | Your email address / Google account identifier, used solely to create and authenticate your account | Firebase Authentication (Google Cloud) |
| AI mentor chat, answer/essay evaluation, topic explanations, quiz generation | Your message text, submitted answers, and a compact summary of your tracked study stats (streak, weak subjects/topics, days to exam) — sent to generate a real, personalized response | Our Cloud Function, which forwards the request to Google's Gemini model (Vertex AI); not stored by us beyond what's needed to serve the response |
| Live quiz battles (opt-in, multiplayer) | Your display name, quiz answers/timing, and match results, matched against another signed-in user | Firebase Firestore & our Cloud Function (server-authoritative; only you and your match opponent can read your match data) |
| Product analytics | Anonymous usage events (e.g. which screen was opened, which AI feature was called) — no message content | Firebase Analytics |
Locally stored data stays on your device until you clear the app's storage or uninstall it. If you've signed in, your account record (email/UID) and any battle results tied to it live in our Firestore database until you request deletion. To delete your account and associated server-side data, contact us using the details below — we'll remove it within a reasonable time.
Adhitam AI is intended for UPSC exam aspirants, typically adults preparing for a competitive civil services exam. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how they process data on our behalf.
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
